Capacitación PEI para una Transformación Sostenible en Parques Industriales de Colombia

Bogotá, October 2024 – Colombia’s transition toward Eco-Industrial Parks (EIPs) has taken an important step forward with the launch of a specialized training program organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP), funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

This training brings together 30 professionals from service providers and industrial park management entities, equipping them with the tools needed to lead the transformation of industrial parks toward more sustainable and competitive models in Colombia.

The course runs from October to December 2024 in Bogotá and follows a highly practical learning approach. Participants build competencies in key tools such as EIP performance assessment, conceptual planning, master planning, and value-added services.

This training is part of GEIPP’s commitment to demonstrate the economic, social, and environmental benefits of EIPs in developing regions, supporting inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

An Interactive, Hands-On Approach

The program is designed to maximize interaction between trainers and participants, encouraging applied learning through group exercises and the exchange of experiences on resource efficiency and industrial synergies. Participants are also asked to complete pre-event activities, including reviewing tools from UNIDO’s EIP Toolbox and collecting information relevant to their roles in industrial sustainability.

Training Structure: An Intensive Month of Learning

The training is delivered through four modules, each focused on specific tools for EIP transformation:

  1. EIP Performance Assessment – Builds knowledge of the EIP framework and enables participants to assess the sustainability performance of an industrial park.
  2. EIP Conceptual Planning – Focuses on developing strategic plans that integrate the EIP approach, optimizing resource use and spatial planning.
  3. Value-Added Services – Trains participants to identify and prioritize management services that add value for companies within the park.
  4. EIP Master Planning – Provides practical knowledge to review and update master plans so park operations align with EIP principles.
